1. Scope and contact
This Privacy Policy applies to the EatSen mobile application, website and related services. Questions, privacy requests and account deletion requests can be sent to [email protected].
2. Information we handle
Account and authentication data
EatSen may create a technical account so your cookbook has an owner. If you secure or access that account through Apple or Google, we receive the provider identifier and limited account information made available under your provider settings. EatSen stores session information, including access credentials and hashed refresh-token records. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Profile and social data
If you choose to provide them, we process your display name and profile image. We also store friend relationships, friend-related recipe activity and interactions needed to provide shared cookbook features.
Recipes and user content
We process recipe titles, ingredients, steps, timing, portions, source information, favourites, personal notes and other recipe fields you add or edit. For social recipes, the submitted source URL and available source content may be processed. For photo recipes and profile images, we process the files you upload.
Subscription, attribution and advertising data
We receive subscription status and entitlement information from RevenueCat and the relevant app store. We do not receive full payment-card details. Privacy-preserving platform attribution, including Apple AdServices and SKAdNetwork, may be used to measure which Google Ads, TikTok Ads or Apple Ads campaign led to an installation. EatSen does not send recipe content to those advertising platforms. For users who see in-app ads, Google AdMob may process consent choices, device and app information, approximate location derived from IP address, and ad interaction information. EatSen requests non-personalized ads and shows Google’s consent and privacy controls where required.
Technical, usage and diagnostics data
Depending on configuration and consent, Firebase Analytics may process first-open, app lifecycle and feature-usage events together with device, operating-system, app-version and language information. EatSen’s Firebase build disables advertising-identifier collection. Our systems may also process network information, IP address, request logs, crash details and diagnostic error data needed for security and reliability. We do not intentionally log authentication tokens or passwords.
3. How we use information
- Provide, secure and synchronize your account and cookbook.
- Create, store, display and organize recipes.
- Process social links and recipe photos into structured recipe drafts.
- Provide favourites, notes, friend activity and shared cookbook features.
- Verify and restore Premium entitlements.
- Serve non-personalized in-app ads and measure aggregate campaign installations where applicable.
- Understand app usage and performance, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures and improve reliability.
- Communicate about support, safety, legal or service matters.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing may rely on performance of the service you request, legitimate interests in operating and securing EatSen, consent for optional analytics or advertising storage, and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Recipe processing and automated services
OpenAI is used only when you request a recipe function that needs automated extraction. For a social source or uploaded recipe image, the relevant source text, metadata or image content is sent to OpenAI to prepare a structured recipe draft. Automated output can be incomplete or inaccurate and should be reviewed. EatSen does not send profile information for this purpose and does not make additional recipe-generation requests merely because you change the app’s display language.
5. Service providers and third parties
We use service providers only as needed for their respective functions. These may include Apple and Google for authentication and platform services; Apple App Store and Google Play for purchases; RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management and standard Apple Ads attribution through AdServices; OpenAI for recipe extraction you request; Google Firebase Analytics when analytics is enabled; Google AdMob and its User Messaging Platform consent tools for non-personalized in-app advertising; and TikTok Business for privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork installation attribution. Google Ads, TikTok Ads and Apple Ads campaign measurement is limited to installation or campaign attribution and is not used to send custom recipe, paywall or purchase events to TikTok.
Hosting, PostgreSQL database and persistent media-storage providers process data needed to operate the service. Source platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube may receive network requests when EatSen accesses a link you submit. Each third party processes information under its own terms and privacy practices. Optional analytics and advertising integrations may be limited by consent choices, platform settings and configuration.
6. Storage, security and transfers
Account and recipe records are stored in EatSen’s backend database, and uploaded recipe or profile images are kept in persistent media storage. The mobile app may retain encrypted authentication material and limited local cache data on your device. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, but no system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Service providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. The specific protections available depend on the location, provider and applicable law.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide EatSen, maintain security, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Diagnostic logs and backups may be retained for limited operational periods. When an account is deleted, we remove or de-identify associated information unless retention is required for security, legal or legitimate operational reasons. Residual backup copies may expire through normal backup cycles.
To request account deletion, email [email protected]. We may need to verify that the request relates to your account before acting.
8. Your choices and rights
You can edit certain profile and recipe information in the app, adjust device permissions, and revisit Google advertising privacy choices in EatSen’s settings whenever that option is required for your region. You may request access, correction or deletion by contacting us. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing, withdraw consent, receive a portable copy, or complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions.
EatSen does not sell personal information. We do not share recipe or profile content for cross-app behavioural advertising.
9. Children
EatSen is not designed for young children. If local law requires parental or guardian consent for a person to use an online service, EatSen should be used only with that valid consent. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as EatSen changes. The current version and its update date will be posted here. If a change materially affects how information is handled, we will provide additional notice where reasonably required.
